Sound Smart by knowing the difference between Multimedia and Mixed media

Mixed Media Vs. Multimedia

Maybe you have been using the wrong term all of this time? Without knowing, a great deal of people get confused between the two concepts of mixed media and multimedia. There are two very distinct differences that need to be used to label your art work correctly.

Multimedia

Multimedia is a piece made with multiple forms of media and utilizes them in a harmony. It is not just simply using marker, watercolors, acrylic, and other materials, but other content such as text, video, images, animation, etc. This form of expression is done mainly for entertainment

Mixed Media

Is strictly various art forms combined for a single piece of art. Personally I enjoy this more then doing just acrylic because it leaves one with more freedom to be expressive. For an example if you draw with ink then go over with water water color or vice versa with adding colored pencils to highlight it and add texture.
